I really hope someone could help...
I'm trying to install on a new primary partition (j:\). I decompressed iso image on j:\vista install and ran setup from there. I noticed that it creates temp folders on C (win xp sp2). It copies the files, then it fails when it inflates them at 27% saying that it cannot boot into the next stage.
I would appreciate any help.
Thank you Stephan

fails at 27%
Have you tried other installation methods such as burning the software to DVD at a low speed and run setup? Also, I would check the integrity of the ISO you downloaded to make its OK. I use the one from Ahead Nero http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html
Here are the MD5/CRC values for x86 or x64 depending on which every ISO you downloaded:
x86 - File Size = 3.12 GB (3,355,598,848 bytes) - CRC Value = 0x67E089E0 - MD5 Value = 0E733AB1A8E8FF9A8684FD3639332773 x64 - File Size = 4.01 GB (4,309,368,832 bytes) - CRC Value = 0x48697711 - MD5 Value = E43502D0A15EADD551119D5639859E04
Paste the MD5 Checksum for either x64 or x86 depending on which one you want check in Step 1, Step 2 - Browse to where you stored the ISO on your drive and open it and it will automatically start the varification process and generate the has in the third field, if it matches Step 1, then you are safe. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Andre,
thanks for reply.
yes, I tried directly from the dvd, no luck. i did use nero md5 verifier, the checksum of my iso is correct.

same exact error i'm having, Stephan - tried this 15 different times, from a DVD, from the extracted ISO, from a mounted image via Nero - always stops at 27% and reboots - finally an error i got is "failed to open windows image". install.wim in the sources folder is 2.8G... wonder if this is the issue...? can't find anything on this.
if you fix it, please let me know? and vice versa...

if i find a solution i'll post it here although i have no clue why it fails. you get to at least one step further becuase mine doesn't reboot at 27%, just stops, throws the error and rolls back.

some things that have helped in the past. delete the partition, recreate and format using recover console from different OS. disable all devices not needed for install. such as serial ports, parallel ports, usb devices, etc.....
